Won!
The National Geography Bee - by a homeschooler! Congratulations to Caitlin Snaring of Washington State for winning this year's competition! I read about her on MSNBC.com, but it said nothing about her being home-educated. But you know ... I just had a hunch. ;) So I googled "homeschool news" and found a site which mentioned that Caitlin is in fact a homeschooler!
So I have to wonder why MSNBC didn't mention this rather, I think, pertinent fact. Is homeschooling so commonplace now - particularly in national competitions - that it doesn't bear mentioning anymore? Maybe so, but I think credit should be given where credit is due - and in this case, to Caitlin and her parents! :)
Anyway, way to go Caitlin! I recorded the Today Show on which she appeared this morning. The boys and I will sit down and watch the interview later today ... and then, I have a feeling, I will vigorously re-work our geography plan for next year.
p.s. The 2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee will be aired next week, May 30-31. We'll certainly be tuning in!
Lost?
How are you feeling about LOST this morning? That was quite a show last night, wasn't it? If you haven't watched yet, please don't read on, as I am spilling some of the beans by wondering ...
- Is that really it for Charlie? Why couldn't he have swum out that window?
- Who was on Naomi's phone? Who is coming?
- Was Ben telling the truth about anything?
- Just who - or what - is Jacob?
- Where's this "temple" the Others are heading for?
- Was that really Walt? And if so, where's Michael?
- How much do we love Hurley?
- Whose funeral was it?
- Will next season be about life off of the island (I hope not)?
Of course we've got loads of time to ponder all these mysteries and more. Nine months to be exact. I cannot believe ABC is making us wait until February to see more of Lost. I, for one, would gladly watch re-runs if it meant having Lost on September through May.
Well, folks, that's all the entertainment news for now. ;) Have a great day ~ I'm off to bake cupcakes!

I hated it! I was hoping for a happy ending somewhere and now it doesn't look like that's gonna happen.
Charlie really is dead. (Watch with Kristen, EOnline - how pathetic am I?) I wondered about the window as well, but it looked slightly too small for his shoulders. Again - pathetic.
Whose funeral indeed? Ben?
I really want Michael to come back.
I really, really hated the end.

LOST---I enjoyed the finale but I wasn't astounded by it either. It was better than okay but not great, does that make sense?
Personally I think the funeral was for Locke. Jack doesn't like him as friend or family (as he said "neither" to the funeral home guy) but Jack does oddly admire and respect Locke in the same weird way!
I predict the next 3 episodes show flashes of the rescue combined with flash forwards to see how the characters lives changed for the better or worse by being rescued. I expect a whole bunch of back and forth.
The temple, I have no idea??? I think it might have something to do with that big statue with feet we saw last season.
I'm going to really miss my Wednesday night TV!!!!

That should read "next 3 seasons" not episodes!

Dawn, did you really stay up to watch it? I loved last night's show. It was surprising and confusing, touching, everything I wanted. I believe Charlie had come to terms with sacrificing himself to be rescued, which is why he didn't try to escape. I was glad to see Locke, and confused by the flashbacks that turned out to be the future. And Yay Hugo!! He saved the day. We will have to talk soon, lol. First the Lost finale, and then the new pirates movie, May is certainly a whirlwind.

I loved it!! Good thing my DH watchs with me though or I'd be 'lost'!! At the end, I said "Wait, Jack and Kate knew each other?" and my mind was racing at all the possibilities that would open up. Poor DH had to clue me in.
Go Hugo!!

I just have to comment on "Lost".
There were parts in it that I was actually shouting joyously at the television (when Hurley showed up was one of those times!) and having the "Others" get what they deserved was really great too. However, I really hated seeing the future/flash-forwards. That was just depressing. We can't have our fearless leader fall apart, become a drug addict, and suicidal!
I think Charlie's really gone. I was wondering why he didn't go out the window too! I suppose he just knew that it was his time?
And I think that Del (?) will get a message somehow to Jack that the ship isn't Penny's - but he did have that vision of the baby and Claire getting on a helicopter -- so perhaps they do get her?
So many unanswered questions!
