The lily does not feel their brazen glare.
In vain the pallid clouds refuse to share
Their dews, the lily feels no thirst, no dread.
Unharmed she lifts her queenly face and head;
She drinks of living waters and keeps fair.

I live in New England, too, and always know the true heat of the summer is upon us when I see those bright daylillies! This kind of classic nature or seasonal reminder is why I love your blog so much! Happy holiday weekend!

Hello,
I am 71 yrs. old and have all grown children and the grands are growing up fast. I love to read your posts..and follow the things that kids are doing today. I think your idea about making a list of things to accomplish before the summer is over...is a good idea for all ages.When I was young...summer lasted forever it seemed. Sometimes now the wonderful summer slips by and we wonder where it went so fast.Have a wonderful holiday.

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit day! Same for me. My husband's family had this tradition. I would love to know where it came from. Sean always thought it was just his dad's crazy thing. Had no idea others shared it.

Rabbit Rabbit! It's nice to know we're not the only family who uses that salutation on the first of the month. It was a childhood tradition for my husband that I had never heard of until we started dating.
