Books, Books and More Books!
April 03, 2006
I'm sure we're not alone in our predicament ... it kind of comes with the territory (homeschooling, that is). For the past several years, and in great numbers, books have been slowly taking over our house!
Somehow these inanimate objects manage to infiltrate, migrate, colonize and breed ... My poor dh never knows when or where to expect another swarm ~ no place is safe! Naturally there are all the prime nesting spots such as tables, beds and shelves, but other vulnerable locations include the car, the laundry room and the bathtub, not to mention the play fort! (More than one comic book has been rescued from a sudden sprinkle just in time.) As infestations go, however, it's not a bad one to have ...
I took some photos of a few comfortable corners where books have set down their roots in our home ... Pictured here they may look fairly neat and organized, but please understand ... this only happens either very early in the morning or very late in the evening ~ in other words, when the kids are all in bed!
Otherwise our books are everywhere, and not too frequently or promptly returned to their tidy basket homes either. Personally, I like it when the books are all over the house (and yes, even the yard!) ... it means little hands are taking them along to all kinds of places. :)
A home filled with children, laughter and love, in my opinion, can only be improved upon with a healthy measure of books ... But I know I am preaching to the choir! ;)
