As we begin our springtime gardening, I thought it would be nice to start garden notebooks with the children. One element we will feature will be the work - both inner and outer - that we do on our Mary garden.
We use Dover coloring books quite frequently for nature study (as well as many other subjects). My boys aren't always big on sketching, particularly if it's not something in front of them. For example, last month we spent an afternoon watching turkey hawks circle the woods and though we couldn't get a close picture, we were able to find a coloring page in Dover's Birds of Prey coloring book. It made for livelier entries in the boys' notebooks.
Today, I remembered two coloring books that would complement our Mary garden work nicely:

Both Garden Flowers and Language of Flowers can be found at Amazon. I also noticed a few other coloring books that looked interesting ~ American Wildflowers and Botanical Gardens.

Dawn, I just saw these at Barnes & Noble yesterday (on my educator discount trip!) and had the same idea. They fit perfectly with this month's theme.

Certainly, Theresa! It looks like we're making it a *family* notebook as I seem to have the most enthusiasm for the subject. :)
