This month's full moon (9-7) was the biggest and widest moon of the year. This pheonomenon was due to the fact that the moon's orbit is lopsided! (We learned that from NASA news.)

As big and bright as it was, this year the September full moon was called the Fruit Moon, Corn Moon or Barley Moon. October's full moon will be called the Harvest Moon as it occurs closer to the autumnal equinox (Sept. 23).
