• Welcome to my little nature corner! I am starting this blog on January 1st, 2007 and it is my goal to write something every day - in hopes of creating a family almanac by the end of the year. Some days it might just be the temperature, others it will be (I hope) posts full of pictures and observations. I hope you enjoy your time here!

Everyday Nature

  • ~Early Spring Birds~
Now's the time of year to start watching for spring migrants passing through. Keep your bird guides handy so you can identify them! It's also the time to hear spring birdsong (it will sound new and yet familiar) and to observe courting behavior. :) ******************************************

How interesting. Here in Norway the moon was a narrower sliver and venus was slightly more to the right, more underneath the moon...or perhaps it was just a different time that I looked out, about 7pm our time. Do you know if Venus is the "dog star"? (I know its a planet, but is it the common name, or is the dog star something else entirely?) Just wondering after having watched "The Education of Little Tree". Gill.

Dawn! Oh my goodness! I saw the moon and Venus Tuesday evening, and then last night told my parents to keep an eye out as Venus had been in the cup of the moon, and it looked so lovely. Then when the kids and I went out to look last night, there was Venus below! And I thought I'd been confused about Venus's location Tuesday evening. So I am so very glad to see your photos! lol
