We had our first Nature Study Club meeting yesterday! We went on a wonderful autumn nature scavenger hunt. I took lots of photos and will post them soon.

In the summer, I would fill the birdfeeders at 6:30 in the morning. It was always light, the sun was peeping through the woods, and the air was pleasantly cool. Nowadays I wouldn't think of venturing outside at this time - too dark and too cold! The birds are already there, though.

I just walked down to get the paper and there was SUCH a ruckus in a tree over in our neighbor's yard! The blue jays were making such a fuss, I've never heard such a racket! I had to watch for a bit to see what was up and at last a big black crow flew out of the tree with a few jays hot on its tail feathers!! He must have been after a nest!

The Michaelmas daisies are in bloom along the roadsides!
******************************************
We have a stretch of sunny warm weather ahead ... lovely for outside activities.
******************************************
But the heat has started coming on at night ... soon it will be time to pack away the fans, and dig out the flannels!

We just read in our Handbook of Nature Study of how the crows and blue jays are related!

I would love to hear more about your Nature study club Dawn. I've been watching your other blog for pictures and a post with more details but haven't found one yet. If by chance I've missed it will you send me the link?
Thanks,
Theresa
