12/13/07Good Golly! We're in for a whole lotta snow! We're hoping to squeeze our Nature Club meeting in today before the snow starts flying (or at least before it gets serious). But they are now saying the weekend storm will bring a FOOT of snow ...
12/12/07This just in: We have not one, but TWO significant snowstorms heading our way! The first is set to arrive mid-afternoon tomorrow with 5-8 inches falling by Friday morning ... Then we have a short break - before a NOR'EASTER blows into town Saturday night into Sunday! Time to batten down the hatches and lay in the supplies!

Wacky weather! It turned mild (40s) and rained overnight, so all our lovely ice is gone. But the temps will plummet this afternoon and tomorrow night we're in for several inches of snow! And ... talk is ... there's a HUGE snowstorm coming for Sunday! Times like these I wish we had a weather station so we could follow the barometric ups and downs. (That's a solid homeschool investment, don't you think?) New England is famous for back-and-forth weather. :)
12/11/07The world is made of ice this morning! Every tree, every bush! Jack Frost was very thorough. ;) Temps should rise into the 40s today so this winter wonderland will be brief. Brief, but beautiful!
12/09/07Even as the light fades here, the feeders are still busy. Right now I see a downy woodpecker (happily clinging to the suet), the red-breasted AND white-breasted nuthatches taking turns at the other suet and several little juncos on the ground. Oh, and here comes the cardinal couple now ...

Cold and gray, feels like snow. We're supposed to get a very messy storm tomorrow and more later in the week, too. We haven't had a LOT of snow yet, but there's a good coating on the ground and almost every day we get a little flurry.

Lots of tracks in the snow! We'll do some observing this week.
