12/17/07We had 9 inches from Thursday's storm, and another 7 over the weekend TOPPED by a thick glazing of ICE. Yikes, it's treacherous! You should see the squirrels trying to navigate their way across the yard towards the feeders!

Just had a hawk incident. I heard a loud bang and ran to the window to look for what happened. The beautiful red-bellied woodpecker was on the ground below, frozen still and seemingly stunned. When I made a movement, he flew off - RIGHT past the HAWK who was perched on a branch above. He (the hawk) flew off as soon as I opened the sill. Our theory is he had the woodpecker in his clutches, slammed into our windows and dropped her - then flew to a branch to compose himself ... CLOSE call!
12/14/07I just uploaded a new photo album, directly below this Typelist, called Snow Days! It has pictures from this storm and after this weekend's Nor'easter, will surely have more!

It's just beginning to get light out, but I can see we got a TON of snow! I will be (naturally) taking lots of pictures today. :) More to report later!
